CONSULTANCY
Turning knowledge into understanding, and understanding into positive action.
The NAT works in health, education, food systems, behaviour, and nature, creating opportunities for people to understand the bigger picture and recognise their own place within it.
Consultancy
We work with organisations whose activities influence food, health, education, communities and the environment.
Rather than offering off-the-shelf solutions, we work collaboratively to design intelligent, context-specific approaches — connecting nutrition science, behavioural insight, education, and lived experience. Our role is to bring clarity to complexity, support strategic courage, and translate systems thinking into practical, investable action.
Our consultancy can include research and evidence translation, education strategy, food-system thinking, provenance and storytelling, stakeholder engagement and the development of learning programmes.
Whole school food culture
The NAT services include comprehensive School Food Environment Audits, School Food Policy Development, School Community Workshops, and Catering Team Support.
Through our bespoke consultancy we aim to create a community-wide commitment, reconnecting families, teachers, governors and the wider school network with food, provenance, and place, strengthening local supply chains and shared responsibility for health and sustainability.
We work with school communities from their starting point and create school improvement plans that are both ambitious and achievable.
Bespoke food systems education
We are connectors, facilitators, and catalysts for change — bringing together people, organisations, and communities to create healthier, fairer, and more sustainable food systems through a diverse range of educational, advisory, and community-focused services.
The NAT is expert in delivering bespoke education tools and works with children and young people, leadership teams, food communities, farms, hospitality partners, and clinical settings to design and deliver food, health and sustainability work grounded in evidence, place, and lived experience.
Collaborative by design, we support purpose-led brands to align nutritional quality, provenance, and decision-making with long-term population and planetary health — enabling meaningful behaviour change, improved food literacy, and sustainable practice.
Examples include:
- Leadership work books
- Event talks
- Family recipes for apps
- Menu design
- Provenance leaflets
- Storytelling

What we offer:
- Workplace audit — EMFC®
- Change management milestones
- Food environment assessments
- Team collaboration and creativity programmes
Professional development short courses
One of our workshops focuses on the Brain Health of you and your team. Enquire with us if you are interested in hosting a “Minds Matter” session in your workplace.
Student placements
We love to play a small part in developing the thinking of others who are pursuing learning in food, diet, health and sustainability. Knowledge exchange is crucial for deeper thinking, and we enjoy the interaction with the students who come to us on placement. We host students from secondary schools, college and university, with learning extending from GCSE to PhD.
